In many three-phase AC applications, the correct phase sequence is sometimes a necessary condition. Incorrect phase sequence or phase loss may cause the device to work abnormally or even be damaged.

The phase sequence relay can be regarded as a three-phase asynchronous motor with long-term operation in the locked state in terms of function and structure. Its structure diagram and one-phase equivalent circuit are shown in the figure.

Phase sequence relay can be widely used in three-phase electric applications, with indicator light as phase sequence indicator, combined with contactor to complete automatic commutation function
